LEE District Website Contest

Submit your Lee District club website for judging by January 25.  Awards to be presented at the annual Lee District Spring Meeting in March.

The website must be linked from the Lee District website on the LINKS page.

A test email will be sent from the judge to a contact link found on your website.  Response time by the club will be considered in the judging.

Submission of a website for judging will be done via EMAIL.

Subject line of submission email should read Lee District Website Contest Entry.

Email must include the club name, district, website address, president’s name and contact information, name and contact information of the individual making the submission, number of members in the club, approximate launch date of website (if known), and no more than 250 words about how your club promotes the Community Service Programs on your website.  Include the name of the website designer and a note whether this person is a web design professional and whether the club paid for design services.  If a password is needed to view your calendar, please include that with your entry. 

Deadline:  Entry must be made by email to Janice Sadler, Web Designer, and Pat Jeffress, Lee District's 1st VP, by January 25.

Entry in the Lee District Website Contest automatically submits your entry in the GFWC Virginia Website Contest.

CONTENT AND DESIGN CRITERIA
FOR CLUB WEBSITES

  • Contact email link is easily found, it works and a club member responds within 24 hours.

  • Hyperlinks to the club's affiliate organizations including their district, GFWC Virginia www.gfwcvirginia.org and GFWC www.gfwc.org are present and work.  If your district has a link, this should be included too.

  • Content is current.

  • Meeting times and location are easily found.

  • Calendar is for the current year.

  • Use of fonts that are likely to be on your viewers’ computers including Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica and Sans-serif are very important to visual consistency. If you must use a different font for a banner, title or heading, convert it to a graphic in .jpg or .gif format.

  • Build your website for the 800 x 600 dpi monitor to please the biggest audience. Monitors come in many sizes.

  • Extra items include club history, list of officers, projects, membership application, etc.

  • Design and style add to visual enjoyment.
